Ethiopia Koke Natural | Single Origin
Description: This coffee was a tough one to get hold of and we are very fortunate to have secured just 60kg of this incredible bean. We requested fresh crop samples of the coffee that had just landed and it stood out by a mile on the cupping table. With strong, bold presence of Orange that we just loved with a more delicate floral edge and some sweet melon. By the time we sent the email later that day to secure some, it had already sold out, for the entire years crop!
Not wanting to give up we made some phone calls and managed to pinch a sack from someone else and will have this on a very limited run!
The Koke Washing Station processes cherries from local smallholder farmers who grow coffee on small garden plots. The cherries undergo natural processing, which brings out the beans bright and fruity characteristics. The altitude and climate conditions of the Yirgacheffe region are ideal for developing complex flavours.
Expect this coffee to lead with a vibrant, orange marmade edge along with some subtle honeydew melon sweetness and light floral notes. We have Omni roasted this coffee, with lower development time creating a great all round coffee which we highly recommend as espresso or V60. This is going to be one of our top coffees of the year for sure, keep your eyes out for that Orange Marmalade note, its a banger!
